    Walkie Talkies Recommendation

As you guys and gals would know, we are a club that has a little bit more convoy than the others... :P So in order to increase the safety aspect of the convoys. We encourage everyone who has the means to go get a walkie talkie.

The following are what we recommend and how you can get it.

    Puxing PX-777

Price is about RMB 290 - RMB 350 depending on accessories

    In China

You can basically get this WT send to your hotel and pay the delivery guy via the TaoBao website, which is like the china version of E-Bay.

    In Hong Kong

You can find this at any electronic shops

    Bringing in Issues

You should have no problem bringing in the WT as we have brought in quite a few sets on our own via Changi Airport

    Legal Issues

Usage of the walkies in Singapore without IDA approval is not allowed in Singapore but the IDA isn't enforcing this rule very strictly and we can get away most of the time. Even had experience whereby one of our car came into the custom and was found with the WT and had to report to IDA for "self disposal" of the WT.

However, in Malaysia using a WT openly is "illegal" and you will be subjected to fine, confiscation and "coffee money" so it's wise to be discreet be it in Sg or My.

    Safety issues

We are using the public channel of 443.000 mostly for our convoys.

Also, if anyone is going China, perhaps you can help the club to get some more walkies too?

I second to Cotomeus... WT's are extremely very useful, as long as there are 2 or more moving objects. This includes humans... as I used this in countless country visits to communicate amongst members between malls, hotels, & POIs

As my WT's are very old lao pok/cheap/low range motorolas (& 1 disappeared coz I dunno who borrowed!), I am also looking replacement set.

Is there anyway to have some sort of GB via the forum? This would kick up the interest, & also for future upcoming exciting convoy trips!

Btw, is there a domestic & export version in these stuffs? Because the motorolas I bought apparent cannot read/send with my other friends' WTs. Someone told me there is a difference b/w export/domestic sets.

I have a friend dealing in walkie talkies. Can prob get a good deal if purchase in bulk. Btw I've tested them on the golf course so I reckon range of 2-3 km should be not a prob.

No news from Artloh yet? Was curious about the pricing he can get for the PX-777s, the club definitely need a few more walkies and some more accessories like ear piece.

    Hi Cotomeus,

The RMB price you mentioned below is for 1pc or 1 pair?

Sorry, just saw the post. You can call my friend Kelvin 96375188 for the walkie talkies. I used a pair during my recent trip to KL. the range is good for 1+km. Better than the Motorola ones I used to use.
